A gym member app puts a member's check-in, workout and diet plans, workout log, and invoices on their phone, under the gym's brand. Acasa Labs builds them for iOS and Android. GymFast, our gym platform, ships a member app today that each gym themes in its own colors, on the same backend as the staff app and the web dashboard.
The problem
Members do not open apps that look like someone else's.
A generic fitness app with a gym's logo pasted on does not get opened. Members want to check in fast, see today's workout, log their sets, and know when the membership renews. If the app is slow, looks foreign, or loses a workout halfway through, they go back to a notes app and the gym loses its daily touchpoint with them. A member app is worth building only if it is the app members reach for on the gym floor.

Themed from one setting
GymFastOne brand-color setting per gym themes the member app, the staff app, and the web dashboard together, so a gym does not need its own build to look like itself.
Workouts saved on the phone
GymFastAn in-progress workout is saved on the device, so a member who loses signal between sets does not lose the session.
Access enforced in the database
GymFastMembers sit at the bottom of a six-level role hierarchy enforced with row-level security in the database, not in app code, so the app cannot show a member more than their role allows.
Reminders nobody has to send
GymFastRenewal, payment, and class reminders run on a schedule as edge functions, so members hear about a lapsing plan without staff sending anything.
Honest trade-offs
Branded app on GymFast, or fully custom?
Most gyms do not need a custom member app: GymFast's member app, themed in the gym's colors, covers check-in, plans, logging, and invoices for far less than a build. A custom app makes sense for a chain that wants its own store listing, features such as class waitlists or community challenges, integration with its own access control, or a member app that is one part of a larger product.

Do you build member apps for iOS and Android?
Yes, from one Expo and React Native codebase. GymFast's member app ships on both.
Can the app show our gym's brand?
Yes. In GymFast, each gym's colors theme the member app from one setting. A custom build can carry your own name and icon in the stores.
Can members book classes in the app?
GymFast runs classes and attendance from the dashboard and sends class reminders on a schedule. Booking, waitlists, and cancellations inside the member app can be scoped in a custom build.
Can members pay their membership in the app?
A gym membership is a physical service, so it can be invoiced and paid outside app-store billing. Digital add-ons sold in the app go through in-app purchase, which we handle with RevenueCat.
Will members actually use it?
Members use apps that save them time on the gym floor: fast check-in, today's workout, and a log that does not lose sets. That is what GymFast's member app is built around.
