EdTech app development

Study apps that answer from the lecture, not the internet.

Acasa Labs builds edtech software: AI tutors that answer from a student's own material, study apps for web and mobile, and marketplaces where educators sell what they make. We also make NoteTube, our own AI learning platform, which turns PDFs, YouTube lectures, recordings, and notes into chat, flashcards, and quizzes grounded in the source.

The problem

Students save everything and learn from little of it.

A two-hour lecture or a 300-page PDF is easy to save and hard to learn from. Students paste it into a general chatbot and get answers from the open web, not from the course the exam is about. Educators have the opposite problem: good notes and question sets that sit in a drive, with no simple way to sell them or see who uses them. Edtech that works starts from the material people already have, and turns it into something a student can study from tonight.

What we build

  1. 01

AI tutors grounded in course material

Chat that answers from the lectures, PDFs, and notes a student or a school uploads, instead of from the open web.

  2. 02

Study tools built from the same material

Summaries, mind maps, quizzes, and spaced-repetition flashcards, so revision follows what the exam covers.

  3. 03

    Web and mobile learning apps

One product on the web, iOS, and Android, with the same account, the same notes, and subscriptions on each.

  4. 04

    Marketplaces for educators

Teachers and creators sell study material, with payouts, balances, and earnings dashboards.

From production

What we learned building NoteTube.

  • Answers from the student's own sources

    NoteTube

Every upload is parsed, chunked, embedded, and stored in Qdrant with per-user, per-session scoping. Chat answers stream back grounded in that material, not the open web.

  • AI keys stay on the server

    NoteTube

Model keys live only in a separate FastAPI service. The web app and the mobile apps never see them, so there is nothing in a shipped app for anyone to pull out.

  • One index, many study tools

    NoteTube

Summaries, chapters, mind maps, podcasts, quizzes, and SM-2 spaced-repetition flashcards are all generated from the same index the chat answers from.

  • Live classes become notes

    NoteTube

A Chrome extension transcribes Google Meet tab audio, so an online class turns into study material without anyone uploading a recording afterwards.

Honest trade-offs

Use NoteTube, or build your own?

If you are a student, a tutor, or a coaching class that wants AI study tools this week, use NoteTube. Build your own when learning is your product: a coaching institute with its own syllabus and brand, a publisher turning books into study apps, or an edtech startup whose tutor needs rules no general tool has. We build both ways, and we will tell you honestly which one fits.

Questions

Education questions we get asked.

Can an AI tutor answer only from our course material?

Yes. That is how NoteTube works: answers are retrieved from the sources a student uploads, scoped to that student and session, rather than from the open web. A custom build can scope answers to your syllabus the same way.

Which content types can it learn from?

NoteTube handles PDFs, YouTube and other video, audio recordings, DOCX files, images, and web articles. A custom build can add your own formats, such as a question bank.

Do you build edtech apps for iOS and Android?

Yes. NoteTube runs on the web and as an Expo app for iOS and Android, on one backend, with subscriptions through RevenueCat in the apps and Stripe on the web.

Can teachers sell content in the app?

Yes. NoteTube's creator marketplace lets educators sell study material through Stripe Connect, with payouts, balances, and earnings dashboards.

Which AI model do you use?

Whichever fits the job. NoteTube lets a student choose per conversation across OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, Llama, and Mistral models, so no single provider is locked in.

Who owns a custom edtech app you build?

You do: the code, the store accounts, the content, and the student data. NoteTube is our product; a custom build is yours.
