Interior design website development

A site that shows the work, and a gallery you can update yourself.

Acasa Labs builds websites for interior design and architecture firms: portfolio sites that show large project photography without slowing down, a custom CMS for the project gallery, and the IT support behind it. We are the ongoing IT partner for The Sharp Interiors, a residential and commercial interior design firm, and built their site and gallery CMS.

The problem

An interior designer sells with photographs.

A prospective client decides from the photos: the light in a living room, the finish on a kitchen, the detail on a reception desk. A template site either shrinks those photos into thumbnails or loads them so slowly that visitors leave before the second project. Then every new project means emailing a developer to upload images and reorder the gallery, so the portfolio falls months behind the work. Firms need a site that does justice to the work and lets them publish it themselves, the week a project is photographed.

What we build

  1. 01

    A portfolio site

Services, team, and a project gallery built for large interior photography, without slowing the page.

  2. 02

A gallery admin your team runs

Add projects, reorder them and the images inside them by drag and drop, choose feature images, and hide work you are not ready to show.

  3. 03

Uploads that cannot break the site

Every project validated before it saves, with image type and size limits, and storage cleaned up when a project is removed.

  4. 04

    IT after launch

Hosting, domain, analytics, and the changes that come up month to month, from one team.

From production

From The Sharp Interiors.

  • Order is part of the story

    The Sharp Interiors

The admin lets the team drag and drop the order of projects, and of the images inside each project, because the first photo of a project is the one that sells it.

  • One schema for the whole CMS

    The Sharp Interiors

Zod schemas are the single source of truth for the CMS, so every field rule and image limit is defined once and checked on every project.

  • Writes only on the server

    The Sharp Interiors

Separate client and admin SDKs mean writes to Firestore and Storage only happen server-side, so the public site has no way to change the gallery.

  • One team to call

    The Sharp Interiors

We stayed on as their IT partner after launch: hosting, domain, analytics, and the month-to-month changes, so the firm has one number to call.

Honest trade-offs

A template, or a custom site?

If you are a solo designer with a dozen projects, a good template on Squarespace or Wix is enough, and we will say so. A custom site makes sense when the portfolio is large and growing, when photo quality and load speed both matter, when several people publish projects, or when you want the site, the domain, and the rest of your IT handled by one team that already knows how it all fits together.

Questions

Interior design questions we get asked.

Can we add new projects ourselves?

Yes. The Sharp Interiors' team adds projects, orders the gallery, picks feature images, and toggles visibility in a custom admin, without a developer.

Will large photos slow the site down?

Not if the gallery is built for them. The Sharp Interiors' gallery shows large interior photography without slowing the page, and we build every portfolio that way.

Do you build websites for architects too?

Yes. An architecture practice needs the same things: a project gallery, a CMS the team can run, and fast pages for large photography and drawings.

Do you look after the site after launch?

Yes. For The Sharp Interiors we handle hosting, domain, analytics, and the changes that come up month to month.

Who owns the site?

You do: the code, the domain, the hosting account, and the content.

Can the site bring in enquiries?

Yes. We add an enquiry form that goes to your inbox or CRM, with spam protection, and analytics so you can see which projects visitors look at most.
