Android app development
Android apps that work on the phone your customer actually has.
Acasa Labs builds Android apps and ships them to Google Play. Most of our Android work is built in the same Expo and React Native codebase as the iOS app, so both platforms ship together: GymFast, NoteTube, and Kraftr all run on Android this way. We handle the Play Console, releases, and subscriptions.
The problem
Android is most of your users and most of the edge cases.
In India, and in most markets outside the US, the majority of your customers are on Android. They use mid-range phones, patchy networks, and aggressive battery savers that kill background work. An app that was only tested on a flagship phone on office Wi-Fi does not hold up there. Building Android well means designing for those conditions from the start.
What we build
- 01
Android and iOS from one codebase
Expo and React Native, so one team ships both stores together and a feature never lands on one platform months before the other.
- 02
Apps for real networks
Work saved on the device and synced when the connection comes back, small downloads, and screens that load before the network does.
- 03
Payments that fit the market
Google Play Billing through RevenueCat for subscriptions, and Razorpay or Stripe on the web side, with one record of who has paid.
- 04
Google Play releases
The Play Console, signing, staged rollouts, store listings, and over-the-air updates for fixes that should not wait for review.
From production
From Android apps we ship.
Staff, members, and trainers on one API
GymFastGymFast's Android apps for staff, members, and trainers share a token-authenticated mobile API with the web dashboard. Members check in with a QR code.
Built for the gym floor
GymFastAn in-progress workout is saved on the device, so a phone that loses signal mid-session does not lose the workout.
The same features as iOS, the same day
NoteTubeNoteTube's Android and iOS apps come from one Expo codebase, next to a Next.js web app, all calling one FastAPI service for AI.
A companion to the web studio
KraftrKraftr's Expo app gives fashion brands their wardrobe, collections, and generated catalog images on the phone, next to the full studio on the web.
Honest trade-offs
When we would write native Kotlin
For most products, React Native and Expo get you a fast, native-feeling Android app and an iOS app for the price of one team. We would write native Kotlin for an Android-only product that leans heavily on device hardware or background services, or for a deeply custom system integration. We will say which before we start.
What we reach for
- Expo, React Native
- Kotlin native modules when needed
- RevenueCat, Google Play Billing
- Push notifications
- Google Play Console
- Sentry, PostHog

Questions
Android app development questions we get asked.
Do you build Android apps on their own, or only with iOS?
Either. Most clients want both, so we build them together from one Expo codebase. An Android-first launch, which is common for Indian consumer products, uses the same approach with iOS added when you are ready.
Will the app work on cheaper Android phones?
We test on mid-range devices, keep the app small, and save work on the device so slow or dropped networks do not lose data.
Do you publish to Google Play for us?
Yes, under your own Play Console account: listing, signing, review, and staged rollouts.
Can users pay with UPI?
For digital content inside the app, Google Play Billing applies, and it supports UPI in India. For payments made on your website, we integrate Razorpay, which also supports UPI.
Can the Android app share a backend with our website?
Yes, that is our default: one API and one database, with web, Android, and iOS clients on top.
