Hire FastAPI developers

A FastAPI developer in your standup next week.

Acasa Labs is a small software team in Surat, India. You can hire a FastAPI developer from the people who built and run NoteTube, Pullsy, Acasa Sentinel, and the realtime gateway of an options trading platform. A senior reviews every pull request, you start with a trial week, and the code lives in your repository from the first commit.

Trial week first. You own the code.

The problem

Freelancers vanish. Agencies send juniors.

FastAPI is easy to start and easy to get wrong. A developer who has only built tutorials will put the model call inside the request, run background work in a thread, and ship an API without a migration story. It works in the demo and falls over in month three. You need someone who has already had that month three, on a system people pay for.

The role

What your FastAPI developer does

  1. 01

Builds the API your clients call

Typed endpoints with Pydantic, SQLAlchemy models with Alembic migrations, and an OpenAPI schema your web and mobile teams can generate a client from.

  2. 02

Moves slow work off the request

Queues on Redis or Postgres with retries, backoff, and locks, so a slow third-party API or a model call never holds a user's request open.

  3. 03

Puts the AI behind the API

Model keys, prompts, retrieval, and streaming answers in the backend, with cost recorded on each call, so no client ever holds a key.

  4. 04

    Leaves it deployable

Docker, a CI pipeline that runs the tests, and a deploy to your Cloud Run, Railway, or AWS account that anyone on your team can repeat.

From production

The FastAPI work behind the people you would hire.

  • A sync engine that does not drop data

    Pullsy

Pullsy's FastAPI and SQLAlchemy backend pulls Instagram data on a Redis queue with atomic move-with-ack and a delayed-retry set. Per-connection locks stop one account syncing twice, and a scheduler recovers jobs from missed heartbeats.

  • One service between every client and the model

    NoteTube

NoteTube's web app, Expo app, Chrome extension, and remote MCP server all call one FastAPI service. The AI keys live only there, and chat streams back over server-sent events with inactivity timeouts.

  • A gateway that cannot slow the core

    Options trading platform

On a private options trading platform, a FastAPI WebSocket gateway fans market state out to the dashboard, throttled per instrument. The publisher behind it is bounded and drops when full, so the gateway can fail without touching trading.

Who you get

One developer, and a senior behind them.

We are a small team, not a bench of hundreds. You get a developer who worked on the systems above, and a senior engineer who reviews every pull request before it reaches you. You talk to the developer before you sign, and the trial week shows you how they work in your codebase.

FastAPI skills you can expect

  • FastAPI, Pydantic v2, Uvicorn
  • SQLAlchemy 2, Alembic
  • async Python, asyncio
  • Redis queues, Postgres job queues
  • WebSockets, server-sent events
  • pytest, httpx test clients
  • Docker, Cloud Run, Railway

How it starts

A trial week, then your rhythm.

  1. Before day one

A call about the codebase or the plan. We pick the developer whose work is closest to yours, and you meet them before anything is signed.

  2. Trial week

Access to your repository, one real ticket from your backlog, and a pull request by the end of the week, reviewed by our senior and by you.

  3. Weeks 2 to 4

Your standup, your tracker, your branching rules. A short written note each day on what moved and what is blocked.

  4. Every month

A review with you: what shipped, what slowed us down, and whether the hours still fit the roadmap.

Risk-free first week: one developer on one defined task. Continue and the week is billed at the normal rate. Stop within the week and you pay nothing.

Engagement models

Three ways to work with a FastAPI developer.

  • Dedicated developer

Full time on your product, about 160 hours a month

An ongoing roadmap and a backlog that will not run out

    $1,500–2,000 a month

  • Part-time developer

Half time, about 80 hours a month, on fixed days

A product that is live and needs steady work, not a sprint

    $750–1,000 a month

  • Fixed scope

A defined piece of work, priced before we start

A feature, a migration, or an MVP with a clear finish line

    From $1,500, priced per scope

Time zones

How your day overlaps with ours.

We set our working day around yours, with at least 4 hours of overlap every working day, including a daily call for US clients in their morning. India is on UTC+5:30 with no daylight saving. Here is what that means from where you are.

  • UAE

    Dubai

    Your 08:30–17:30 is our 10:00–19:00

    IST is 1 h 30 min ahead

    Your whole working day

Work like a team in the next building. Calls any time in your day.

  • UK

    London

Your 09:00–13:00 is our 14:30–18:30 (13:30–17:30 in summer), longer on request

IST is 5 h 30 min ahead (4 h 30 min in British Summer Time)

    At least 4 hours

Standup at the start of your day, pairing until your lunch, a written update before you log off.

  • Australia

    Sydney

Your 13:00–17:00 is our 08:30–12:30 (07:30–11:30 in summer)

    IST is 4 h 30 min behind (5 h 30 min in Australian summer)

    At least 4 hours

We start early so your afternoon is shared. The work lands before your next morning.

  • US East

    New York

Your 08:00–12:00 is our 18:30–22:30 (17:30–21:30 in summer)

    IST is 10 h 30 min ahead (9 h 30 min in US summer)

At least 4 hours, with a call every working day

A call at the start of your day, and a pull request waiting each morning that was built while you slept.

  • US West

    San Francisco

Your 08:00–12:00 is our 21:30–01:30 (20:30–00:30 in summer)

    IST is 13 h 30 min ahead (12 h 30 min in US summer)

At least 4 hours, with a call every working day

We shift late for your morning: a daily call, then the work continues through your afternoon.

Ownership

You own the code.

  • Repositories sit in your GitHub or GitLab organization from the first commit.
  • Cloud accounts and credentials are yours; we work with access you grant and can revoke.
  • If you stop, nothing is held back: the code, the docs, and the deploy steps stay with you.

Honest trade-offs

When you should not hire a FastAPI developer from us

If you need ten engineers by next month, we are the wrong size; we would rather send one good developer than five. If the backend is mostly an admin and forms over many related tables, a Django developer will get you further, and we have those too. And if you only need a one-off endpoint, a fixed-scope piece of work costs less than a monthly hire.

Questions

Before you hire a FastAPI developer.

How quickly can a FastAPI developer start?

Usually within a week of the first call. We introduce you to the developer, agree on the trial-week ticket, and they open their first pull request in your repository that week.

Will the developer work on our existing FastAPI codebase?

Yes. The first days go into reading it: the structure, the tests, how it deploys. You get a short written list of what they found before they change anything that is not in the ticket.

Do your FastAPI developers know async Python properly?

They write async endpoints, and they know when not to: blocking libraries go to a thread pool or a worker, and long jobs go to a queue. The trading gateway and Pullsy's sync engine both depend on getting that right.

Can the same developer build our AI features?

Yes. Streaming answers, retrieval over your documents, and cost tracking per call are FastAPI work we already run in NoteTube. If it grows into a large RAG project, a second engineer who has built retrieval joins for the design.

Who reviews the developer's code?

A senior engineer from our team reviews every pull request before you see it, and you have the final say on merging. Reviews happen in your repository, so you can read them.
