FastAPI and Django developer hourly rate in India

$1,500 to $2,000 a month. About $9.40 to $12.50 an hour, if you divide.

A dedicated FastAPI or Django developer from Acasa Labs costs $1,500 to $2,000 a month, full time, about 160 hours. Divided by those 160 hours, that is about $9.40 to $12.50 an hour. That hourly figure is derived this way for comparison; our rates are monthly. Half time is $750 to $1,000 a month for about 80 hours. The first week is risk-free.

The rate is the same for FastAPI and Django. Where a developer sits in the range depends on the work and the experience it needs, and we agree it before the trial week starts.

Every price on this page is our own rate card, in US dollars. The minimum project is $1,500. A dedicated developer is $1,500 to $2,000 a month. Hire engagements start with a risk-free first week, and you own the code, repositories, and cloud accounts from day one. Indian clients are invoiced in INR by Acasa Labs (OPC) Private Limited. 01

What moves the rate

Inside the $1,500 to $2,000 range, these are what decide the number for your engagement.

  • The kind of backend

A CRUD API with an admin is different work from a streaming AI service or a realtime gateway. Async systems, queues, and heavy integrations sit higher in the range.

  • The existing codebase

A clean, tested codebase is quick to work in. An old one with no tests and no documentation needs more experience to change safely.

  • Full time or half time

Half time is $750 to $1,000 a month for about 80 hours: the same hourly equivalent at half the commitment.

  • Overlap with your hours

We work from India. A few hours of daily overlap with Europe or the Middle East is easy. Daily overlap with the US west coast takes planning, and we agree it up front.

  • Senior review

Every developer's pull requests are reviewed by a senior on our side. That is part of the rate, not an extra.

02

How the hourly figure is derived

People searching for an hourly rate usually want to compare quotes. So here is the arithmetic: a full-time month is about 160 working hours. $1,500 divided by 160 is $9.375, and $2,000 divided by 160 is $12.50. That gives about $9.40 to $12.50 an hour.

We price by the month because it is simpler for both sides: no timesheets to argue over, and a developer whose time is set aside for your product. If you compare our monthly rate with an hourly quote elsewhere, multiply their rate by 160 and compare like for like, including whether a senior reviews the work.

03

The trial week

Every hire engagement starts with a risk-free first week. One developer works on one defined task in your repository. If you continue, the week is billed at the normal rate. If you stop within the week, you pay nothing.

Example builds

The FastAPI and Django systems behind our developers.

Our developers come from the team that built these. They are our own products and client work, not a bench.

  • FastAPI for AI and streaming

    NoteTube

NoteTube's AI runs in a separate FastAPI service that holds the model keys, streams RAG chat over server-sent events, and times out dead connections.

  • FastAPI for a sync engine

    Pullsy

Pullsy pulls Instagram data on a Redis queue from a FastAPI and SQLAlchemy backend, with per-connection locks and backoff mapped to Meta's error codes.

  • Django REST Framework for a multi-tenant platform

    SigmaCPM

SigmaCPM runs on Django REST Framework with organizations, seats, per-module entitlements, and a Postgres-backed job queue with leases and skip-locked selection.

  • FastAPI over a computer vision pipeline

    Acasa Sentinel

Acasa Sentinel's API sits on top of detection, plate reading, and pgvector appearance search, with bounded stream timeouts so a stalled camera never wedges a thread.

How to spend less on a backend developer

  1. 01Start half time if the backlog will not keep someone busy every day.
  2. 02Write down the first month's priorities before the trial week, so no time goes to guessing.
  3. 03Give access to the repository, staging, and logs on day one.
  4. 04Keep a test suite, or let the developer write one early. It makes every later change cheaper.
  5. 05Move to a maintenance retainer at $100 to $300 a month once the backend is stable.

05

When a cheaper option is the better choice

If you need only a few hours of work a month, a freelancer who bills by the hour may suit you better than a monthly developer. Our smallest commitment is half time, about 80 hours.

If your backend is simple data storage behind an app, a managed backend such as Supabase or Firebase may remove most of the backend work entirely.

A dedicated developer from us makes sense when the backend is the product: an API, an AI service, or a system with real load and real users, where a senior reviewing every change is worth paying for.

Questions

FastAPI and Django rates, asked often.

What is the hourly rate for a FastAPI or Django developer in India?

Ours works out to about $9.40 to $12.50 an hour. That is our monthly rate of $1,500 to $2,000 divided by about 160 hours. We bill monthly, not hourly.

Is a Django developer cheaper than a FastAPI developer?

Not with us. The rate depends on the work and the experience it needs, not the framework.

Can I hire a developer half time?

Yes. Half time is $750 to $1,000 a month for about 80 hours.

How does the trial week work?

One developer, one defined task, in your repository. Continue and the week is billed at the normal rate; stop within the week and you pay nothing.

Who owns the code the developer writes?

You do. It goes into your repository from the first commit.

Can Indian companies pay in INR?

Yes. Indian clients are invoiced in INR by Acasa Labs (OPC) Private Limited.
